March 2016

Is it March already. The year seems to be dashing by so fast.

March 1st

A lazy day after yesterday’s rushing round. Most of the time spent writing up yesterday’s logs.

March 2nd

Wet and horrible in the morning so assessed a challenge or two.
Waited until after the heavy hail storm to go seek a couple of birthday caches and some church micros.

March 3rd

Well yesterday culminated with rosela inferring in their log  for Double Devil Birthday Challenge Cache that I was the devil and yesterday was my birthday.
Well they got it wrong, yesterday was not my birthday but I have set a cache on my birthday but which one? Lets throw it open to you sleuths and see who returns the correct answer first, rosela or other readers.

Still thinking of the American challenge so today’s caching trip was to the Great Bedwyn  area where there were two large containers. Whittled away at some of the series that surrounded them and went for few church micros too.

A couple of chats with locals the first was an old man sprucing up the white welcome railings on the entrance to town. Need to keep busy he said I want to die at home or in my garden not degenerate in hospital I’m 86. Perhaps I should worry he looked fitter than me.

A mother and son asked are you doing that thing where you go round looking for things. Well that’s me summed up then.

March 5th

I’d sort of convinced myself that the choices of birthday caches were too off road for contemplation between to 12 hour night shifts and sleep and puzzle solving a better use of my time. Then I spotted as well as having a blank space on the birthday calendar there was a 4 entry on the finds by date calendar, oh well time to boost that to 5 so as not to fret for a full year.

So a half mile walk through the woods at an early hour. A flurry of snow as I turned away from the cache too.

March 8th

Well probably one of my earliest attendances at a meet and my food plate was clean by the time the hosts arrived.
At fist I thought the attendance count was a bit small but the room did fill towards mid duration.
Think we could produce an episode of casualty ward ten with all our ailments.
The evening was topped off with this log when I got home Open Link which certainly made me smile.

March 9th onwards

I don’t particularly doing streaks I gave up the last one at 222 finds when I found it too exhausting to find caches between the 12 hour night shifts.
So dilemma time a challenge requires 31 consecutive finds with 31 different D/T values. Do I leave it and choices of caches will diminish. Do I do it later in the year when I am touring the country planning time is then greatly reduced. Do I wait and see if Groundspeak allows challenge caches to stay.

Going for it now but already cursing after just a few days in.
Lots of planning, lots of miles, little time for reporting and household chores.
Unlikely to update the blog unless anything outstanding is encountered.

Many thanks if yours has been one to help me.

Currently I have been wrestling with whether to attend the summer island events.
Britain’s Tenth Most Remote Event (St Martins IoS)

I claim Lundy for the People of Freedonia!

Costly for the few days I would be doing this but would certainly add an adventure aspect to geocaching. At the moment there seem to be no takers for IoS consider adding it to your summer plans.

Whiled away a little time (24 Mar) assessing my qualification for the Peddars Way – A names challenge  one the Project -GC checker fails to order chronologically so a manual task. Interesting to me was to include the counties as a reminder where I travelled in the last few months.
