March 2021

A few cacheless bike ride then two rides of about 25 mies with a handful on.
Think I’ve almost reached the limit of rides from home that would include any cache reaping unless I solve some of the puzzles
Those last two rides were to Newbury and Reading.
The biked miles are clocking up. I’ve completed 23% of the Iceland Ring Road challenge.

A few photos from the Reading ride.

9th March

Caching at Farley Hill and considered it just a little too far to go on the bike. So car and walk today.

I’ve set up a second virtual challenge to attribute my walking to. This challenge is 180 miles in New Zealand. So perhaps it will give me insight into what I might experience for real if I ever get to make the trip.

13th March

Out to check on one of my caches that some were having difficulty finding. All good on that one but less good on a couple of others I visited.
Perhaps did a few more miles than intended.
Only a handful of caches but almost 5 miles walked. Liking the scenery when those miles are transferred to the New Zealand challenge. Wonder if I’ll ever get there.

I didn’t expect to be on safari today.

20th March

Continuing to cache when I can and find bike riding easier than walking. Doing some cacheless bike rides too.

Have now put 268 biking miles on the Ring Road Iceland Challenge and 24 walking miles on the Alps to Ocean NZ challenge.

22nd March

A couple of triggers have rekindled memories of past trips.

Both concern Lava flow.

A cache that we visited on our 2017 USA trip has not had any finds/visits since we were there. Lava Cascades Palindrome Cache

In Iceland ther is currently an active lava flow. On my 2015 trip I completed an earthcache at an extinct crater perhaps 8-10 miles from the current eruption.
