3rd June
Well today’s geocaching was a little different. An event which I never expected to encounter.
I went to tackle a few caches on the Castle Acre Stroll that I likely couldn’t cycle to when I did the circuit a couple of years ago. Nos 11 and 12 being the remote caches i needed to visit.
No 11 was soon found then it was off to No 12.
The path was quite overgrown and I certainly wouldn’t want to tackle it on a bike.
Ahead of me I noticed an animal cross the path I had some thoughts on which species.
When I got to where it crossed I parted the nettles to make sure it had gone but now it was crouched down. I expected it to take flight but no it came back out onto the path and lunged towards me.
At this time I’m thinking polecat.
The encounter was about 6 lunges towards me and my reaction was 3 strikes to its head and three knocks to the ground with my walking pole.
After the third head bashing it did slink off to the side of the path.
So at that time I was thinking polecat but the colouring somewhat puzzles me.
It was almost white and orange where all the internet pictures seem much darker colours.
Since I was just doing the two caches here after finding No 12 I needed to use the same path. Sure enough said creature was on the path once again. I made a detour into the field and left it in peace.
So an encounter I never expected to make and perhaps I never want to again. Food for thought though for how complacent we perhaps are as to we consider Britain doesn’t have too many nasties lurking.
14th June
Off on another trip but not going too far as there is soon some house maintenance and other chores to fit in.
A drive about day today and then hopefully be in position for a long to me walk tomorrow.
Hadn’t realised my route was taking me by where my Homework Session – Friday used to be sited. Good to see the place again but sad it’s now gone and that so few visited it.
15th June
Out reasonably early before it was too hot to walk a little over 6 miles on the challenge cache series near Bath. Great set of caches and a nice walk if you get a chance take the walk it might inspire you when setting your own caches.
19th June
A couple of photos on the trip.

21st June
Quite reserved on cache find numbers but I’m enjoying the walks of where I’ve been the last couple of days.

23rd June
Seemed an appropriate place to pause my log writing session.

27th June
An example of how my logging takes place. The map shows those caches initially put on the target list (I sought others too), those logged and those put aside.
I’ll rarely log the submit answers caches whilst on the trip. Home several days now and still don’t think my head is up to doing the admin yet.
