May 2017

My May already where is the year  going it seems to be flying by so quickly.

One more month before the big trips kick in and still much to do in the organising of those.
Each time I blink Paul has published another event in Scotland.

5th May

A half intent to go look at something in the Stratford-upon-Avon area so headed that direction in the end favoured caching rather than that viewing though.

Stopped off on the way to maintain #6 of a Sturdy Walk and set another cache https://coord.info/GC755JA whilst I was there.

Just managed to visit one YOSM and a close by cache before darkness fell.

6th May

Since it was a rush prepared trip it will just comprise of caches I’ve marked for one reason or another.
So mostly Challenge caches or contributors towards challenges, solved puzzles, YOSM’s, church micro’s etc.

7th May

Quite a warm day in contrast to yesterday.
Some struggles, the Montana rarely behaves well with chirp caches.
Some joy a lay by cache found.
Some angst two other lay by challenge caches elude me again. I’ve failed on these before.

8th May

Last full day of my trip away and some successes along with some failures on those sneaky lay by caches. Some useful D/T’s collected on the challenge caches.

9th May

Last day of my trip away so time to zigzag a way home and make the caching meet at Thatcham tonight.
Mostly church micros that I had marked up for this section.

Tired when I got home I thought I might not stay long at the meet. Ended up being one of the last out of the door!

15th May

I’d like to keep my monthly find rate at 150 or 200 but equally want time to plan the Scotland trip for next month and the other trips beyond.

Opted to come back to the Shropshire/Wales Borders to see if I could get a quick boost.

Not such a roaring success micro’s in roadside hedges aren’t best sought when vegetation is in so strong growth.

16th May

Second day of my trip north and further attack on the 2016 series.

Essentially parked and walked two loops but failing to see any great logic in how the caches have been set out, my transferring day number to GPSr didn’t result in any reasonable pattern.

Woke to rain in Whitchurch but dry when I arrived at my intended start point. Three or four caches later I had to don waterproof jacket and the drizzle lasted for most of the first circuit.

The afternoon was much drier. Quite tired and toasted feet at the end of the second loop. time to head east and pick up some birthday caches. That took me up to almost dark so time to cook dinner.
now I had come away from the bulk of my download thought it time to head in the direction of home.
Picked up a church micro at 23:45 and another at 00:15 Nice sleeping spot near the next one which I’ll do in the morning as it’s now 01:15.

29th May

What has been dubbed as my Scotland Tour is fast approaching.
The remote event was a sign  up to as soon as it was announced but then Paul gradually added in a stream of other events. There are a few that are beyond me but I’ll try to get to quite a few of the others.

Lots of miles and unsure how much caching that will allow to get in and perhaps my wish list is unachievable as some will be long walks or time consuming earthcaches or tide dependent.

So you’ve probably noticed not all are in Scotland. I’ve wanted to visit Lindisfarne for a while and the tides are good for the crossing the day after Paul’s last event. After that I’ve a lot of caches I would like to seek in Northumberland.

30th May

Just place a note log on To Ben (Nevis) & back. as the ascent on that one is a little doubtful for me.
Found a very useful article about the walk that others might like to read too.
